Aspirations

Aspirations for the future:

At Seabridge we are always thinking about how to prepare our children for the next stage in their learning journey and beyond. We regularly talk to the children about their aspirations and take the time to consider the jobs that a range of the foundation subjects are needed for.

The children have all completed aspiration jars to allow them to think about the career they would like to have.

Science:

Biology - Vet, zoologist, animal conservation, doctor, nurse, physiotherapist, sport/fitness coach, medical research, microbiologist, virologist.

Physics - Engineer, astronaut, working with NASA, communication technology.

Chemistry - Farming, chef, engineering.

Computing:

Videogame Developer: Bring enjoyment to thousands of people every year by giving them something they love to do.  Videogame developing can start at a very basic level (You may do it in your computing lessons) to creating multi billion pound franchises. This highest earning videogame (Space Invaders) has earned nearly $14 billion (Star wars only made $10 billion at the cinema.)

Website Administrator: From creating websites for up and coming businesses to ensuring that established businesses are able to communicate with customers and potentially deliver their service. You could be the key to ensuring a business succeeds.

Ethical Hacker: Finding flaws in peoples networks before the bad guys. The ultimate goal is to help people improve their network security.

Other areas to consider:

  • Retail management
  • Teaching
  • Technical Officers
  • Web Developers
  • The Media

History:

Law: History teaches you skills which are important to have as a lawyer: critical thinking, asking why, analysing information and presenting arguments as well as training memory and teaching you how to research.

The Police: Studying history means studying people, cultures and societies; the research skills gained in such studies might be particularly useful in some of the ‘back room' support staff jobs which involve analysis of the patterns of certain crimes.

Teaching: It may be that a particular history teacher inspired your interest, and you'd like to do the same for someone in the future. If you feel you have a real flair for conveying your own knowledge of and enthusiasm for history to others, teaching is definitely an option

Other areas to consider:

  • Museums and Galleries.
  • Libraries and Universities,
  • Archaeology, Architecture & Conservation.
  • Local and National Government,
  • The Media

French:

All children at Seabridge will develop a genuine interest and positive curiosity about foreign languages, finding them enjoyable and stimulating. Learning a second language will also offer pupils the opportunity to explore relationships between language and identity, develop a deeper understanding of other cultures and the world around them with a better awareness of self, others and cultural differences. The most important aim is that children at Seabridge will feel willing and able to continue studying languages beyond key stage 2.

Children can aspire to become more equipped to initiate the prospect of studying abroad, travelling and working in other countries.
Children can aspire to discover different cultures and other ways of living around the world and share it with others such as being writers/ journalists, working in the tourism industry or getting involved in diplomatic relations.
Children can aspire to use their strong foundation communication skills at becoming negotiators or translators.

Most important of all, the children should see themselves to become a world citizen in their future, where languages will open doors to other cultures and ways of life.
